Professor Patricia J. Precin Recognized for Excellence in Education

Professor Patricia J. Precin has written seven books (three in press)

    NEW YORK, NY, August 18, 2010 /Technical PR News/ -- Professor Patricia J. Precin, Assistant Professor for New York Institute of Technology, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating outstanding dedication, scholarship, service, leadership and excellence in education.

With over 20 years of professional experience, Professor Precin serves as an assistant professor at the New York Institute of Technology where she is also a research associate of the Vocational Independence Program and a faculty associate for the Center for Gerontology and Geriatrics. Specializing in occupational therapy, she teaches graduate students, conducts research and publishes scholarly material. She also has a psychoanalytic practice and has written/edited seven books/double journal volumes: Living Skills Recovery Workbook, Client Centered Reasoning: Narratives of People with Mental Illness, Surviving 9/11: Impact and Experiences of Occupational Therapy Practitioners, Healing 9/11: Creative Programming by Occupational Therapists, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Work, Psychosocial Clinical Reasoning Processes, and Skills for Living Workbook:: Adaptation and Participation. In additions, she has published 13 chapters, 10 research studies, and delivered over 50 presentations about her work at national and international conferences.

Previously, Professor Precin has been the Executive Director of the Fostering Connection, Inc.; Managing Director of Pathways to Housing, Inc.; Director of Personal Roads to Individual Development and Employment; Director of Occupational, Recreational, and Creative Arts Therapies at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital; Director of Clinical Quality Improvement at Roosevelt Hospital; Consultant to InCube, Inc.; and an expert witness in court cases having to do with rehabilitation. She served as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Center for Community Integration, Inc., Secretary of the Board of Directors for Housing First, Inc., Board Member of the Mental Health Liaison of the Metropolitan New York District of the New York State Occupational Therapy Association, and Clinical Representative of the Metropolitan Occupational Therapy Education Council.

Professor Precin has college/graduate degrees in Psychology (Psy Chi National Honor Fraternity Member), Pre-Medicine (Tri Beta National Honor Fraternity Member), Occupational Therapy (Pi Theta Epsilon National Honor Fraternity Member), and Biophysics. She is also a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, a National Honor Fraternity in music, having studied and played professionally. She currently holds New York State licenses in occupational therapy and psychoanalysis and attained an Award of Excellence in Research in 2009 from the New York Institute of Technology. She is currently pursuing two doctorate degrees. She attributes her success to hard work and the guidance and patience of others.
